How Does Website Design Affect SEO?

Website design is essential for SEO. The design of a website directly impacts the user experience, while the coding of a site can impact search engine crawlers’ ability to understand and rank a website.

An attractive and well-structured design improves user engagement, reduces bounce rates, and signals to search engines that the website is valuable and relevant.

Working with a digital marketing provider that has a full-scale understanding of both website development and SEO can make the difference between a seamless website transition, and months of traffic drops because your vendor dropped the ball. We see this far too often, and we have gained valuable knowledge over the years of everything that needs to be in place during the development phases to ensure your website maintains Google and search engine rankings.

Website Design Process

Here’s how our website design process usually goes:

1. Wireframe Design

This is where we begin the design process. We use your existing website and logo as our starting point to identify preferred colors and design preferences. We also ask you to send us a few URL’s of your competitors’ websites that you like. We then put together mockups of the home page and important interior pages (services, about us, blog, contact us, etc.) for you to review.

2. Development + Strategy

Once a website look and feel are approved, we begin developing your website on a staging server so that you’re able to track our progress as we go. We start moving over (or writing new) content, all while implementing important SEO factors such as 301 redirects, structured data markup, and SEO meta data. This is also where we begin keyword research and strategy implementation.

3. Launch

Once we’ve completed the development of your new website, along with optimizing it for search engines (SEO), your new website is ready to launch. We handle all aspects of the website launch, from DNS records to installing Google Analytics and Google Search Console. You and any employees that need access will be registered as users, and we begin the strategy execution phase.
